Bokken

The Bokken is an uncraftable weapon that can only be obtained through the Creative Inventory, or through the /give command. The weapon can be wilded with one hand or with both hands, giving it a different attack animation. When swung, the bokken produces the default swing sound.

Tips

  • The Bokken may be used by modpack/mod developers to test custom new weapon types.
  • The Bokken can serve as a dummy item for server developers to create nbt based weapon types, through the datapack editor, and infinitely create new "weapons", mimicking the ability to register new items with unique weapon types.

Trivia

  • "Bokken" means wooden sword in Japanese.
  • The Bokken was originally added as a wooden variant of the Katana(now Uchigatana), and was meant to be implemented in a unimplemented training system, where the user would learn how to fight with a Sensei/Skill Master.
  • The Bokken's original name was "Wooden Training Sword".
  • The Bokken later became a tutorial weapon for mod/pack developers who could be interested in creating their own weapon types without the need of code.
  • It'd make it's first appearance back in 20.6.1, when the experimental datapack feature, now knows as the Datapack editor, begun it's development. This experiment, later led to the addition of [NBT Weapon Assigning].
